The rules

What a Vancouver pharmacy or clinic website has to get right

Advertising rules

Pharmacies in British Columbia are regulated by the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia, and physicians by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. What a page may say about services, prices and outcomes follows their standards; other professions follow their own College.

The advertising rules guide and the compliance register.

Health privacy

Privately owned pharmacies and physician practices in British Columbia are organizations under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), which governs how they collect, use and disclose personal information.

What pharmacists may prescribe

Since 1 June 2023, BC pharmacists who complete the required education can assess and prescribe for listed minor ailments and contraception, and PharmaCare pays for the service. A pharmacy site can describe these services in the College's terms and send patients to book through the pharmacy's own tool.

Drug coverage

Refill, transfer and service pages name the plan patients know: BC PharmaCare. How refill and transfer requests work.

Names, links and rules checked 8 October 2026. This is a summary for planning a website, not legal advice: each page is reviewed against the current version of the relevant standard at the time of the build, and the review is recorded.

Questions from Vancouver practices

Who builds pharmacy and clinic websites in Vancouver?

Monograph does, from Vancouver. We are two practising pharmacists who own pharmacies in British Columbia, and we build and maintain websites for pharmacies and clinics, including our own. Every page is checked against the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia or the relevant College before it goes live.

Is the work done in person or remotely?

Most of the work happens by video call: discovery, content review and training. The site, the booking links and your Google Business Profile are set up remotely, and your team approves every page before it goes live.

Can our website be in Mandarin?

Yes. In the Vancouver census metropolitan area, 152,805 people speak Mandarin most often at home (2021 Census). The site is built so a second or third language is a content task, and each translated page is reviewed the same way as the English one.

What does a website for a Vancouver pharmacy or clinic cost?

Build is from $2,500, Care is $150 to $250 per month after three free months, and Growth is from $500 per month. The price is the same in Vancouver as anywhere else in Canada, in Canadian dollars before tax, with nothing billed by the hour.
